Why Are My Teeth Discoloured?
There are many reasons why teeth lose their original brightness, including:
Dentist In-Office Teeth Whitening (Light / Laser Whitening)
Whether you choose the light-activated Sapphire™ method or the Picasso™ laser method, the dentist’s whitening treatments are quicker and more effective than any others. The procedure is safe and only takes about an hour. Dr. Assad will also provide complimentary take-home custom trays to use for 7 to 10 days to boost the whitening effect. They can also be used for touch-ups in the future.
Some patients don’t want immediate results and are happier with progressive whitening. If this is your case, Dr. Assad will fabricate custom-fit trays for you and provide the gel to use in the trays. The gel is prescription concentration which is much more potent and more effective than over-the-counter products. All you have to do is wear the gel tray for three to eight hours over two to three weeks. Most people simply wear them to sleep. You can always call Dr. Assad should you have any questions or concerns.
How long your whitening treatment lasts depends on many factors:
As a rule, touch-ups are needed approximately every four months. All you have to do is wear the trays with gel for two to three nights in a row. Kanata North Dental Office will supply the gel for touch-ups.
Am I a Candidate?
Ideal candidates for teeth whitening have healthy, unrestored teeth without extensive cavities and healthy, normal gums. Whitening may not be the right solution in all cases. You should note that bleaching only works on natural teeth. If you have restorations or replacements, or if you have receding gums, there are other solutions such as bonding or veneers. Ask Dr. Assad what is the best whitening solution for you.
